Welcome to the home page of Horizon Laminates Ltd, Atlantic Canada’s Counter Top Manufacturer. I am proud of this company and everything you will see on this website. As you view the different links, you will see how diverse Horizon Laminates has become since our inception in 1991. In fact, I can say that our products are in just about every home built or renovated over the past 10-15 years in this province. We have grown into an operation that I would compare against any in the world with our main product being Post Formed Counter Tops.

We are also a major player in the solid surface market as either distributors and/or fabricators of Staron Acrylic Solid Surface, Hanstone, Summum Granite, Silestone Quartz, and most recently, Granite by GCA. Simply put, we are the one stop wholesale Counter Top shop that caters to the needs of the public through our dealers. If it’s a quality counter top from the most basic to the most elaborate, with excellent customer service and support, we are the #1 choice.

As part of the landscape of Newfoundland & Labrador, we have built up a relationship that deals with almost every building supply dealer in this province. From Burgeo to Nain to Trepassey and everywhere in between, our products are being shipped. Cabinet makers throughout this province are catered to by our largest stocking customer with the most modern cut shop – PWP/Lumberworld, located in St. John’s. What We Do

While we are able to produce all high quality counter top surfaces, our claim-to-fame is production of Post Formed laminate counter tops in all the latest colours, textures, shapes and sizes. Orders come into the office where they are processed and confirmed with a scheduled completion date prior to sending the order to production. When sent to production, the orders are organized by profile and size, or length. This reduces extra setup time and ensures that we get the most out of each run based on the specifications of the orders.

Finished counter tops are then either sent to our stocking customers or to our cut shop where they await attention by our team of cutting professionals. There the tops will be cut to size and finished ends will be applied when required. It doesn’t stop there. Special edges may be applied, such as wooden edge or Staron edging as requested by the customer. Products being shipped are packaged in cardboard or with shrink-wrap and foam and placed on a pallet for large orders.

Company History

In 1990, Nu-Way Kitchens Ltd., opened a new venture, Horizon Laminates Ltd., which manufactures and mass produces post form counter tops. This company has seen three generations of the Short family manage its operations. From being the first of its kind in Newfoundland, Horizon has grown to the largest in Atantic Canada and is still the only manufacturer of post formed counter tops in the province.

Our customer base has grown over the years and we are starting to see interest from potential customers outside the province, even from the international markets. Horizon currently operates from its manufacturing plant and office facilities in Donovans Industrial Park located in Mount Pearl, NL. With recent expansion of its facilities, Horizon is able to produce 5,000 linear feet of post formed counter tops per week, and plans to increase that number as demand requires it. This company has been in the forefront of home construction and renovation in Newfoundland and Labrador and will continue to provide customers with quality products and service.
